Baker Relief Nursery received a significant boost this year through a federal grant supporting renovations at Oregon’s Relief Nurseries. Renovation work at the Baker City site took place throughout the summer and fall of last year, creating improved spaces for children, families, and staff.
The project included upgrades to the entryway, kitchen, and bathrooms, as well as the addition of a laundry room. An addition to the back of the building created much-needed office and storage space, while a new covered outdoor play area provides toddlers with developmentally appropriate play structures.
Accessibility was also a key focus of the project. ADA upgrades were incorporated throughout the facility, with particular attention given to creating spaces that are accessible and appropriate for young children. These improvements help provide a safe, welcoming environment where children can learn and develop through play.
Together, these renovations provide Baker Relief Nursery with a more functional, accessible, and child-friendly facility, better supporting the children and families it serves and creating a space where young children can learn, grow, and thrive.
